Abstract

Islam provides thorough guidance in all the spheres of human life for all times. It guides the humanity in religious, social, financial, economic, political and all other areas of life. Its teachings are beneficial for human beings without any distinction of color, caste, race or sex. Like all other fields of life, the discipline of economics was given special significance in Islam as most of worldly affairs are centered on it. The major responsibility of financial matters was put on the shoulders men simultaneously women were also allowed to partake in financial activities to meet the domestic necessities. Different areas of finance such as agriculture, trade and industry are open for them. The study is fundamentally designed to express the participation of women in industry of Textile and Tanning during the first century A.H. This is an analytical study. The data is gathered from secondary sources; books, articles and online sources. The study suggests guidelines for contemporary women in the light of exemplary role of Muslim women (Sahaabiat and Taabiyat) during the era of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, pious caliphate and early Umayyad Dynasty. The women of that era struggled hard to avail legitimate sustenance through their handicrafts and skills. They pursued financial independence and high rank by the outcome of their economic trade and crafts. This study is a source of encouragement for the present-day women.
