Abstract

Islamic Sharia is another name for the Quran and Hadith, which Allah Almighty revealed in the Arabic language. The primary interpreter of this was Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), whose language was also Arabic. Since the language of Sharia is Arabic, all related sciences and arts, such as exegesis (Tafsir), Quranic sciences (Ulum al-Quran), jurisprudence (Fiqh), principles of jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh), grammar (Nahw), morphology (Sarf), rhetoric (Ilm al-Ma'ani and Ilm al-Bayan), principles of Hadith (Usul al-Hadith), etc., were documented in Arabic. In other words, all the knowledge of Sharia exists in the Arabic language. Therefore, to understand it, one must attain proficiency in Arabic.

In any Arabic book, there are many words and scholarly terms that are not accessible to many readers. This is especially true in the books of early scholars, where there are countless words and terms whose correct meanings are not known to us. To understand and comprehend these difficult words, we need to refer to Arabic dictionaries.
