Abstract

Recitation of the Holy Quran is a deed of great reward. People of the Muslim Ummah keep enlightening their hearts with the light of Quran. In Pakistan, when reciters come from Egypt, people are very happy to hear their recitation. Objections are sometimes raised to the style of recitation of the Egyptian reciters. Protesters say Egyptian reciters recite in a musical style and they recite Quranic verses in the style of music. Those who are aware of this art and consider it permissible to read it in this way, say that there are seven places for reciting the Quran in a specific style and accent, which are called Quranic places. And these places are very different from the places of music. In fact, there are seven places for music as well. Scholars who do not consider it permissible to read in the style of music say that the places of the Quran are in fact places of music. Only these places have been renamed. This article gives you a brief overview on the opinions of both sides of scholars. Regardless of the discussion of the Quranic places, in the opinion of some people, the recitation of the Holy Quran in accordance with the rules of Tajweed is not necessary.
