Abstract

Some of the narrators have special terms and special words that describe the validity and strength of the narrations and there are some others that are not well-known and rare. In the knowledge of cross-examination and excavation (‘Ilm al-Jarḥ wal-T’adīl), narrations should never be validated or modified by merely classifying the words or their apparent meanings, rather it is necessary that the scholars who have used these words and expressions should understand the context of their speech. The term or interpretation that is common in the Imam's cross-examination should be researched. Therefore, in this paper, an attempt is made to explain the applications of these words and expressions which are rarely used or have been mentioned by a particular narrator in the narrator's cross-examination or modification. The first of them is about those imams whose confirmation and modification have used more than one word and expression. The last one is about the term or word used for a particular Imam.
